West Virginia Northern Community College joined forces with the Marines for a toy drive to bring a little joy to less fortunate children during the Christmas season.

Health sciences students in the Medical Assisting, Respiratory Care and Surgical Technology programs purchased numerous toys for the annual toy drive.

The partnership was a natural as Charles Postle, junior vice commandant of the Jones Wolin O’Brien Detachment 771, Wheeling, U.S. Marine Corps League, is a Respiratory Care student. He and Lisa Ingram, associate professor of Respiratory Care, coordinated the collection for the fifth year.

“Students in our program are required to complete a minimum of eight hours of community service per semester, and the Marine Corps toy drive was selected as the students’ service project for the current semester,” Ingram said.

The toys will be picked up and distributed to the lucky children by the local Marines detachment.
