Mission Statement

West Virginia Northern Community College's mission is to provide postsecondary educational opportunity for all citizens in the Northern Panhandle's six counties, to develop a competent district workforce which can compete in a global economy, and to respond to cultural and civic interests and needs of the communities it serves.

To this end, the College is committed to collaboration, coordination, and optimal use of available resources to develop, acquire, and make accessible high quality, low cost programs and services which are responsive to the needs of its citizens, employers, and communities. The College strives to motivate participation by informing its citizens and employers of educational and training opportunities, financial assistance, job placement, and through effective, user friendly delivery systems.

Shared Vision Statement

We envision a future in which:

West Virginia Northern Community College is valued by the people of the Northern Panhandle and beyond as an accessible, educational resource center and as a community of learners who model integrity, mutual respect, and a commitment to excellence and community service.

As an educational resource center, we will be recognized as a place of educational opportunity, an instrument of personal and organizational change, and a catalyst for regional economic development.
We will be responsive to educational needs of our region by being pro-active, agile, and flexible with emphasis on partnerships. We will lead in using current technological tools to facilitate learning and improve productivity. Through partnerships and involvement with our external communities, we will link local strengths to global knowledge and opportunity.

As a community of learners, where students are our first priority, we will continue to value eachindividual, every culture, our heritage, and the natural resources upon which we depend. We will rovide an open environment and the necessary tools to foster growth and development of our community of learners.

To realize our vision as an educational resource center and community of learners, the College will:

seek excellence in teaching and learning;

serve responsibly the people of our region;

strengthen internal community; and continuously evaluate, assess and improve.
