Welcome
Qualifying for some type of financial aid to assist
with college costs is easier than ever before. Whether
it be a grant, student loan or through the Federal
Work-study Program, funds are available at the federal
and state level as well as through Northern's
Foundation for scholarships. Scholarships are
also available through private and institutional
funds.
MEET OUR STAFF!
Financial Aid currently has two
full-time staff members to serve you, the Associate
Director of Financial Aid and the Financial Aid
Counselor. The Financial Aid Assistant III position is
posted on our Human Resources Web page and in the college.
The Director of Financial Aid is available, preferably by
appointment.
Alicia Stromski, Financial Aid Counselor
Alicia earned her Bachelor's degree from
Mount Union College. Her career in financial aid
began in July, 2004. In addition to her many duties associated with student loans, Alicia also serves as the
information contact for students and parents. Current
students have found her to be very knowledgeable and
extremely helpful, especially in the area of student
loans. Alicia is currently pursuing her Masters of
Educational Leadership Studies and is scheduled to graduate in
May, 2008.
Cynthia Hudok, Associate Director of
Financial Aid
Cindy graduated from Duquesne University in
2000 and has been at Northern since September,
2001. With over six years in financial aid at
Northern, Cindy is well versed in all areas of financial aid and
is responsible for ensuring all policies and procedures are in
compliance with Federal regulations. Cindy is often seen
at area high school financial aid nights providing financial
aid information to students and parents as well as
assisting them with completing the Free Application for
Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). She is also scheduled to
graduate with a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership
Studies at WVU in May, 2008.
All three employees are well-versed in
assisting students with their financial aid questions. At
training provided at the West Virginia Association of Financial
Aid Administrators conferences, our financial aid
employees stay abreast of changes at the Federal
Department of Education, State finanical aid offices,
and with State and Federal legislation. Alicia and
Cindy have attended MASFAA Summer Institute, a week-long
intensive training in financial aid conducted by the National
Association of Financial Aid Administrators' certified trainers
who are senior financial aid administrators with years
of experience.
Janet Fike, Dean of Enrollment Management and
Director of Financial Aid
With sixteen years in financial aid and ten
of those at Northern, Janet is the senior member of the
team. Since she serves a dual administrative role at the
college, she is not as involved in the day to day process.
Her duties lie mostly in the realm of policy and administration
although she is often seen at area high schools conducting
financial aid nights to insure students and parents get the most
current financial aid information and plenty of assistance
applying for financial aid. Janet
oversees Admissions, Student Services, and Counselor
services as well as the entire enrollment management
process.
