West Virginia Northern Community College offers a number of courses through Distance Education. West Virginia Northern uses three forms of distance course delivery: tele-courses, electronic courses and those offered through SREC.
Electronic courses use electronic communications and the Internet at the course backbone, with video, audio and other distance education methods as appropriate. Computer resources and PPP/SLIP connectivity are needed. Some courses will require one or more on-campus class meetings; others will be available completely by distance modalities.
Electronic internet courses are courses which use electronic communications and the Internet with video, audio and other distance education methods, as appropriate. Computer resources and PPP/SLIP connectivity are required. Some courses will require on-campus class meetings; others will be available completely by distance modalities. Electronic courses are divided into two categories: West Virginia Northern online courses and Southern Regional Education Board's Electronic Campus courses. SREB's Electronic Campus courses are West Virginia Northern courses which have been evaluated and accepted on the State level for inclusion on the SREB website. These courses are freely transferable throughout the state institutions in the 16 southern region states.
West Virginia Northern Community College online electronic courses may have an on-campus requirement, but SREB Electronic Campus courses do not.
