This event is currently postponed, please look for new dates coming soon! Sorry for the inconvenience.
WVNCC’s auditorium will be transformed into an international marketplace offering snacks inspired by the cultural diversity of Northern students, faculty, and staff in a “Global Mamas” marketplace.
Attendees will have the opportunity to sample snacks at no charge and purchase unique, handcrafted products of the highest quality. The beautiful products, full of life and love, are made using intricate, traditional methods that have been passed down through generations from mothers to daughters, and teachers to apprentices. Items available will include jewelry, clothing, accessories, bath & body, and more.
Founded in 2003, Global Mamas is a fair trade organization located in Ghana, West Africa supporting the sustainable development of women artisans by producing and exporting fair trade products. The “Global Mamas” are mothers, wives, grandmothers, sisters, talented entrepreneurs and leaders in their communities. There are nearly 350 producers from 7 different communities in the Global Mamas network; working together, they achieve their mission of creating prosperity for African women and their families. ‘Mamas’ define prosperity as going beyond financial well-being to include happiness and good health. Being able to do the work they love empowers women to develop financial independence leading to greater happiness. ‘Global Mamas’ allows women to escape the “feminization of poverty” by supporting their families, sending their children to school, improving their health, and saving for the future.
