West Virginia Northern Community College (WVNCC) is now offering free mental health services to all Northern students and their immediate family members. WellConnect offers confidential, voluntary counseling, and resource referral services, whether the person is on campus, taking classes online or working remotely. Through the program, independently licensed counselors and therapists work with Northern students on effective solutions for things like depression, test anxiety, stress, relationship issues, legal concerns, daily living needs and school/life balance.

“Although we provide a lot of support services on campus we felt like, especially given the current circumstances with COVID-19, we wanted to offer robust mental health services that were accessible to all our students,” commented Northern President, Dr. Daniel Mosser. “Our Mental Health Committee did a great job in partnering with WellConnect to provide such critical support to our Northern community.”

WellConnect currently serves more than 200 campuses nationwide, including four-year, two-year, for-profit, private, online-only and graduate schools.

“The faculty, staff and administrators at Northern recognize the need to provide mental health support to our students,” said Kristi Aulick, Northern Academic Advisor and co-chair of the Mental Health Committee. “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with WellConnect to make that a reality.”

“WellConnect allows us to bridge the gaps between our campuses with a diverse range of wellness services and extend support beyond the traditional academic avenues,” added RJ Canter, psychology Instructor and co-chair of Northern’s Mental Health Committee.
