West Virginia Northern Community College Board of Governors invites applications and nominations for the position of President. The position is the chief executive officer of the College and is responsible to the West Virginia Northern Community College Board of Governors for the total organization, administration, and development of the College. The President is the official channel to the board for all policy, program, and budget recommendations.
The following tentative timeline was developed to keep candidates, employees and community leaders informed of the various phases of the search process.

The presidential search committee is excited to release the names of the top three candidates for the new presidency of West Virginia Northern Community College. The three finalists are Dr. John Crooks, associate provost of Lorain County Community College in Elyria, Ohio; Dr. Catherine Gatewood-Keim, vice president of academic affiars of Bay College, Escanaba, Michigan; and Dr. Vicki Riley, vice president of academic affairs of West Virginia Northern Community College, Wheeling, West Virginia.
The three candidates will be on campus the week of November 17, 2014, to meet with the search committee members, Board of Governors, administrators, Community and Technical College Council members, faculty, staff, alumni, students, and community members. A visit schedule is posted below along with additional candidate information.
All constituency groups indicated above have an opportunity to visit with the candidates and provide written feedback which will be shared with the search committee and Board of Governors members.

It is a pleasure to announce to the College community that Dr. Vicki L. Riley, of Wheeling, has been named the new president of West Virginia Northern Community College.
Dr. Riley was confirmed as Northern’s president earlier today by the West Virginia Council for Community and Technical College Education, meeting in Charleston. Her presidency begins Jan. 6.
Speaking for the board, we are pleased that Dr. Riley, our current vice president of academic affairs, with her more than 30 years of experience in community college education, will become Northern’s new leader. The depth of her knowledge and strength of her commitment to community colleges is truly outstanding.
I also have nothing but praise for the presidential search committee, which began its work after a nationwide effort was launched in June to identify candidates for the position. Representatives of all components of the College community were named to the 14-member committee, and I believe the presidential search was thorough, enlightening and comprehensive. Committee members were conscientious and meticulous and deserve thanks for their contributions.
