High school students may attend Northern on a part-time basis while still in high school any semester after the end of their sophomore year. Early entrance students who successfully complete college-level courses may use the credits toward graduation at Northern and/or have the credits transferred to other colleges and universities.
In order to qualify for admission to the Early Entrance Program, students must submit a completed application for admission. This application must include permission of the students' high school principal or designee.
Students must have the approval and signature of parents or guardians. Any questions may be directed to the Campus Counselors. Applicants accepted under the Early Entrance Program are considered "special" students.
Early entrance students who attend West Virginia High schools are eligible for a reduced tuition rate of $76 per credit hour. Students attending high schools in reciprocity counties will pay $87 per credit hour.
If early entrance students wish to have transcripts of grades sent to any third party, they may do so by completing transcript request forms and paying the appropriate fees.
