WVNCC Paramedic Program Earns National CAAHEP-Accreditation

West Virginia Northern Community College (WVNCC) is proud to announce that its Emergency Medical Services Professions–Paramedic program has been awarded accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). This recognition, effective September 19, 2025, affirms that WVNCC’s Paramedic program meets the rigorous national standards established for quality allied health education.
The accreditation was granted upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP). No areas of non-compliance were identified during the review, highlighting WVNCC’s commitment to academic and professional excellence. The program’s next evaluation is scheduled for 2030.
“This accreditation reflects WVNCC’s dedication to preparing highly skilled emergency medical professionals who are ready to serve our communities,” said Michael Freeman, BS, NRP, EMS Program Director at WVNCC. “Our students will graduate from a program that has been nationally recognized for its quality, and they will be well-equipped to provide lifesaving care in critical situations.”

WVNCC’s Paramedic program prepares students to respond to medical emergencies with advanced lifesaving care. Through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on labs, and field experience, students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to excel as paramedics in hospitals, fire departments, ambulance services, and other healthcare settings.
