Posted 05/20/25
West Virginia Northern Community College (WVNCC) is now enrolling students for its Summer Welding Institute, an intensive, 10-week training program designed to quickly prepare individuals for high-demand careers in welding.
The program, held on WVNCC’s Wheeling Campus, begins June 2 and runs through August15, and offers hands-on training in MIG, TIG, and stick welding, as well as safety procedures and blueprint reading. Students will have the opportunity to test for welding certifications in SMAW vertical and 3 position plate welds, MIG plate welds, and pipe welds dependent on each individual’s ability and progression in the courses. Taught in a state-of-the-art welding lab, the Summer Welding Institute equips students with the technical skills and industry-recognized credentials they need to enter the workforce immediately.
“Welding is one of the most in-demand trades in our region, and we’re proud to offer a fast, affordable pathway for individuals to gain valuable skills that can lead to immediate employment,” said Karri Mulhern, WVNCC Vice President for Continuing Education and Workforce Development. “Whether someone is just starting their career or looking to reskill, our Summer Welding Institute is a great option to build a strong future.”
