APPLICATIONS FOR THE WVNCC RADIOGRAPHY PROGRAM MUST BE RECEIVED BY MAY 1 OF EACH YEAR.

NOTE: Interview Eligibility Requirements/Admission Criteria have been changed -- Effective 9/21/17.

Applicants to the Radiography Program must first complete an application to WVNCC.  They then must complete a Health Science Application.  This application can be downloaded and printed from the following link:  Health Science Application.

The requirements for admission into the Radiography Program are as follows:

1. A high school diploma or its equivalent.

2. An OVERALL GPA OF 2.75 OR HIGHER is required for admission to the program.  This GPA is a combination of any transfer credit from outside institutions as well as all courses taken at WVNCC.  It will be evaluated at the end of the spring semester in the year of application.  All applicants must be eligible to take college level English and Math.

3. An overall composite score of 18 or above on the ACT or overall composite score of 980 (ERW + M) or above on the SAT is required.  For testing information, please go to www.actstudent.org or www.collegeboard.org.

4. THREE reference forms MUST be completed and turned into the Admissions Office. *Forms must be downloaded and printed from here, or they can be obtained from the Program Director. Personal reference letters are accepted, but the three required reference forms MUST be completed and submitted, as well.

If the applicant satisfactorily meets all of the above requirements, he or she will be eligible for an interview. Applications MUST be completed and returned to the WVNCC Admissions Office by MAY 1 in order to be considered for possible acceptance in the upcoming Fall Semester.   All required paperwork (transcripts, reference forms, resume) must be submitted at this time, as well.  *Interviews are conducted the week between the Spring and Summer semesters.  High school transcripts or GED/TASC scores will be reviewed prior to &/or as part of the interview process.  Program selection is based on a combination of "Achievement Points" and the Interview Score.  Points will be awarded based on GPA, ACT or SAT Composite Score, and references.  Additional points will be awarded during the interview process for meeting specific "Achievement" criteria.  Please contact Radiography Program Officials for additional details regarding these items.

There are a limited number of positions available in the Radiography Program. Interviews will be conducted in May. **A $200 non-refundable deposit is required to hold a student’s position in the class once they have been notified of acceptance. This fee is only applicable to those students who are CONDITIONALLY ACCEPTED into the Radiography Program. This deposit will be used towards the student’s program expenses.

All accepted radiography students are required to satisfactorily complete a drug screen and background check. The results of these tests, along with all required health records, must be turned into the WVNCC Health Science Office by the established deadline each year.  The WVNCC Radiography Program Student Handbook can be seen here.

All students are required to maintain a "C" or higher in each course to continue in the Radiography Program.

IMPORTANT: Other student costs include physical exam and required vaccines/titers (variable - could be partially or fully covered by insurance), shoes ($50-$100), and gas to travel to clinical education sites (varies depending on location).  Books (approximate cost $900) and scrubs (approximate cost $100), if purchased in the Barnes and Noble Bookstore at WVNCC, may be eligible for Financial Aid assistance.

WVNCC EFFECTIVENESS DATA / PROGRAM PERFORMANCE

According to JRCERT Standard 5.3, Radiography Programs must make available to the general public program effectiveness data (credentialing examination pass rate, job placement rate, and completion rate) on an annual basis.  The WVNCC Radiography Program was previously sponsored by Wheeling Hospital.  That sponsorship was transferred to WVNCC in July of 2011.  The first class of Radiography Students started at WVNCC in August of 2011 and graduated in May of 2013.  Therefore, as stated in JRCERT Policy 11.400 - 11.403B, the JRCERT does not require that historical Program Effectiveness Data be transferred to the new sponsor when the institutions involved are not comparable.  Due to this fact, there is no data to report for the year 2012.  NOTE ~ the "Job Placement Rate" does not include graduates "not actively seeking" employment, which is defined in JRCERT Objective 5.2 as (1) graduate fails to communicate with program officials regarding employment status after multiple attempts, OR (2) graduate is unwilling to seek employment that requires relocation, OR (3) graduate is unwilling to accept employment due to salary or hours, OR (4) graduate is on active military duty, OR (5) graduate is continuing education.
