Upon admission, if ACT/SAT scores are not available and/or do not meet requirements, all degree and certificate objective students are required to take course placement tests in reading, writing, arithmetic, and elementary algebra to assess their current skills. Also, students not seeking a degree or certificate must meet these requirements before registering for any class with an applicable prerequisite.
To attempt Practice Tests with sample problems, go to http://www.act.org/compass/sample/. For additional Compass Test prep Log on to the Student Portal (instructions are found in the Let’s Get Started Guide); Click the Brainfuse button; Select SkillSurfer under Expert Help; Select College Placement Tests; and, finally, Select Compass. The information is arranged by subject area. We test in Reading, Writing, and the Math areas of Numerical Skills/Pre-Algebra and Algebra.
Contact your campus to register for placement testing. Remember, if you are a transfer student or you took the ACT or SAT test, you may not need to take some or all of the parts of the Compass Test. Contact your Campus Counselor before registering if you have any questions.
*Your student ID number, provided in your Admission's or Financial Aid letter, is required to register for the Compass Test.
