Statement from the Board of Governors
Last week, Dr. Mosser announced his decision to retire. This decision marks the end of an exceptional era. Without question, Dr. Mosser will bring the same dedication to this transition that has defined his outstanding leadership, ensuring Northern is positioned for continued success. Dr. Mosser arrived at WVNCC at a critical moment in our evolution and brought much-needed stability and experience to WVNCC.I wish Dr. Mosser the greatest happiness in a well-deserved retirement.
WVNCC is stronger and more competitive today because of strategic changes implemented by Dr. Mosser and his team. On behalf of the Board, I share our deep gratitude for Dr. Mosser’s visionary leadership and unwavering commitment, as well as the incredible work of the WVNCC senior leadership team, faculty, and staff, who have made WVNCC’s many recent accomplishments possible.
President Mosser is also leaving WVNCC well-positioned for the upcoming transition to new leadership. Given the thoughtful timing of his retirement announcement, we will conduct a prudent, careful, and unhurried search process this Spring term, in search of the College’s ninth president.
The Board will begin the search process immediately, supported by an external executive search firm. The first step, already underway, is developing and approving criteria for the position, posting the position for applications and nominations, and appointing a search advisory committee with representatives of the WVNCC Board of Governors, the campus community, and business and civic leaders from our local communities.
The Board of Governors plans to have WVNCC’s new president on-board for the start of the Fall 2026 semester.
