National Coming Out Day
October 10, 2024
11:00am - 1:00pm
Observed annually on October 11, National Coming Out Day honors the courage of LGBTQ+ individuals who choose to embrace their identity and live openly. The day was first recognized in 1988, marking the one-year anniversary of the 1987 National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights, a significant moment in LGBTQ+ history. While it began as an American observance, its importance is now recognized by LGBTQ+ communities around the world.
This year, we’re celebrating a day early, as many students don’t have classes on Friday. Join us on Thursday to celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ community! Show your pride by tie-dying rally towels and connecting with others in a welcoming, inclusive environment. All materials will be provided, and everyone is encouraged to participate!
