Career Fair Set at WVNCC

Posted 03/29/13

Several informational fairs, aimed at students seeking jobs or college transfer opportunities, will be conducted in April by West Virginia Northern Community College.

Free and open to the public, the events include “Explore Your Potential: 2013 Career & Transfer Fair” to be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, April 11, in the B&O Building auditorium on the downtown Wheeling campus.

Planners at WVNCC say the event is intended to connect spring graduates with area employers and to provide information to students who want to transfer to a four-year college to continue their education. Attending employers include Cabela’s Distribution Center, Williams Lea, TeleTech, Northwood Health System, Fox Run Center, Oglebay Resort and others. Attending institutions include West Liberty University, Bethany College, West Virginia University, Wheeling Jesuit University and others.

It is recommended that those seeking employment dress professionally and bring plenty of resume copies. Transfer students are encouraged to bring unofficial copies of their transcripts. For more information, contact Julie Horton, career services counselor, at 304-214-8817, or Lisa Soly, counselor and transfer coordinator, at 304-723-7515.

In addition, Horton said there will be a Career & Internship Fair from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, April 18, on the Weirton campus. Attending are Fox Run Center, We’re Rolling Pretzel Co., H & R Block, Adecco and others.

Also scheduled is a Summer Job Fair to be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, in the B&O Building, Wheeling campus. This fair, Horton said, is primarily for seasonal jobs, though some employers also may seek to fill regular positions. Attending are Wheeling Island Hotel Casino Racetrack, Cabela’s, Landmark Event Staffing and others.
