VP/CFO Named at WVNCC

JEFFREY J. SAYREJeffrey J. Sayre of New Manchester has been named vice president of administrative services and chief financial officer at West Virginia Northern Community College.

The announcement was made by Dr. Vicki L. Riley, WVNCC president, who said, “We are very pleased that Jeff has joined the administrative staff. He brings much experience in finance from the private sector. That knowledge will be beneficial to us as he navigates the unique challenges facing higher education in West Virginia. I look forward to working with him as Jeff becomes a vital part of the business community in the region WVNCC serves.”

Sayre is responsible for the supervision and leadership of the business office, college facilities and the information technology department.

Born and raised in Hancock County, he resides in New Manchester with his wife, Shannon, and children Hillary, Abigail and Addison.

Sayre graduated with the class of 1988 from Oak Glen High School and is a graduate of West Virginia University in 1992 with a degree in secondary education, mathematics and physics, and of Franciscan University of Steubenville in 2006 with a master of business administration.

He began work as a teacher and coach at Oak Glen from 1992-97 and worked at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort for more than 20 years in various capacities, including in gaming as a floor supervisor, in management information systems as systems administrator, human resources as a benefits and compensation manager, resort operations as assistant director, accounting as a financial analyst, at Presque Isle Downs, a sister property in Erie, Pennsylvania, as director of human resources and in accounting as director of finance.

“I am excited to get back to my original calling of education,” Sayre said, adding, “Though I am no longer in the classroom, I hope to do my part in providing quality and affordable education for all who wish to learn.”
