West Liberty University (WLU) signed an articulation agreement for their social work program today. Upon obtaining an Associate in Arts degree from WVNCC, students can seamlessly transfer to WLU to pursue their Bachelor of Social Work degree, and upon successfully completing the required classes will be eligible to sit for the Social Work licensure exam.

This partnership between the two schools provides students with an easy transition through the sharing of application and admissions information, transcripts, and other records. Those students who complete the 61 credits required from WVNCC and maintain an overall 2.5 GPA will be eligible for admission to WLU’s Bachelor of Social Work program. Graduates will then be qualified to obtain positions as case managers, behavior specialists, mental health technicians or direct service workers in a variety of human and social services agencies.

“This new agreement provides a great opportunity for our students to continue their educational goals at West Liberty University,” commented WVNCC President, Dr. Daniel Mosser. “As the community’s college, we are deeply committed to working with our local universities and partners to provide the best possible pathway to success for our students.”

"West Virginia and the entire tri-state region needs more professional social workers with four year degrees, so this is positive news for all of us,” said Dr. Stephen Greiner, WLU president. "We are pleased to once again partner with West Virginia Northern in an agreement that leads to more college graduates in the workforce."
