WVNCC Foundation Receives Grants

The West Virginia Northern Community College Foundation is pleased to announce it has received another grant through the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley and its Women’s Giving Circle fund.

The WVNCC Foundation has received $5,000 awards from the WGC for the past three years to provide emergency assistance to female students. Rana Spurlock, institutional advancement coordinator at Northern, said, “In that time, funds have helped us assist a total of 44 students with items such as rent, help with utility payments, medical bills, travel expenses and car repairs.”

The WGC is building a community of women philanthropists and creating a permanent legacy to address the needs of women and girls in the Upper Ohio Valley of West Virginia and Ohio. The goal is to assist women and girls to achieve lifetime goals that might not otherwise be attainable without the support provided by the giving circle. The fund awards annual grants addressing a variety of needs through an annual competitive application process.
