First responders who worked during the major flash flooding disasters in Ohio and Marshall counties have been invited by West Virginia Northern Community College to a “Thank You” luncheon on the Wheeling campus.
The informal lunch will be offered from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 11, in the Student Union on the second floor of the Barnes and Noble bookstore building on the downtown campus.
The luncheon is being coordinated jointly by the WVNCC Student Activities Department and the college’s Culinary Arts Department.
Student Activities Director Shannon Payton said, “After the two flooding events of the past couple of weeks and the search and rescue efforts we felt it would be nice to extend an invitation for those who worked tirelessly to stop in for a quick bite to eat and a ‘thank you’ for all they do.”
Other college personnel will be volunteering to assist with serving, set up and clean up, Payton said.
