The Economic and Workforce Development Division at West Virginia Northern Community College contributes to economic development for the area by enhancing the region's workforce through training, continuing education opportunities and working closely with regional industries and business to determine their workforce needs.
Using a team approach and a reliance on partnerships with external groups, the Economic and Workforce Development Center responds to the needs of individuals, employers, communities, and economic development agencies with a flexible learning methodology which allows for customized training solutions.
The Division addresses workforce development needs of the emerging, existing, entrepreneurial and transitional workforces through specific programs in Continuing Education, technical education partnerships/apprenticeships, the Small Business Development Center and customized training.
Major partnerships include those with RESA VI, Northern Panhandle Workforce Development Board, the six county school systems within the Northern Panhandle, Northern Panhandle Business Development Corporation, Regional Economic Development Partnership, and local organized labor organizations.
