West Virginia Northern Community College unveils history display as part of their 50th anniversary celebration.

West Virginia Northern Community College (WVNCC) held a ribbon cutting today to unveil a history room on its Wheeling campus that showcases photos, news articles and memorabilia as part of its ongoing 50th Anniversary celebration. WVNCC campuses in New Martinsville and Weirton will also display photos from the first 50 years. The history room in Wheeling is located on the second floor of the B&O Building, adjacent to the library, and is open to the public.

The College opened its doors in 1972 and the new area includes several articles from that year, as well photo display boards. The boards contain pictures from the early days, as well as photos of students, commencement, various college events, student life and more. There are also numerous display cases that include various proclamations, College publications, commencement programs, t-shirts, trophies and more.

“Northern has a rich and proud history of touching many lives in the Upper Ohio Valley between our three campuses,” commented WVNCC President Dr. Daniel Mosser. “During our 50th anniversary celebration we wanted a place where alumni, employees and community members could come and relive memories of their days at the College.

Festivities for the 50th anniversary have been ongoing over the last eight months and will continue through the College’s anniversary month in May. On May 6, the College will be showing a 1970’s movie on the outdoor plaza of the B&O Building for the community to enjoy and will be serving 1970’s themed snacks. Then the celebration will culminate with a Gala that will be held on May 14, at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in Wheeling. Information for these events can be found on at www.wvncc.edu
