Course Evaluation

The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness facilitates and coordinates the instructional course and faculty evaluations.

What is CoursEval and why is it important?

CoursEval is an online system used to gather and disseminate the results of student evaluation of instruction. WVNCC values our student’s opinions and we utilize the data and information gathered to guide us as we make course and institutional improvements.

When do we use CoursEval?

Course and faculty evaluations are sent to students approximately one week prior to the last week of the course. The survey is open to students for one week. Evaluations are administered according to the course end date. Students only have the opportunity to complete the evaluation process prior to viewing their final grade for the course.

How will I know it’s time for CoursEval?

  • Faculty receive an email from the CoursEval system in the week prior to the evaluation. The email lists each course with student enrollment. We ask that faculty review the student enrollment and let institutional reseach know if there are any discrepancies. Faculty receive a reminder email during the evaluation week. Faculty are encouraged to remind students of the evaluation deadline and the importance of the results.
  • Students receive an invitation email on the opening Monday and a reminder email for every day that they haven’t completed their evaluation.

How are evaluations completed?

Students can complete the evaluation using a smartphone, iPad, tablet, laptop or desktop computer.

When can faculty see the evaluation results?

Evaluation results are available after all grades for the current academic term have been submitted to the Registrar’s Office. Faculty receive an email from the CoursEval system, inviting them to view their evaluation results.
