Placement Test Preparation
What is Placement Testing?
Colleges use placement tests in subjects like math and English to check the academic skill levels of entering students.
Here at WVNCC, we believe in setting students up for success! Meeting students "where they are," with regard to certain essential concepts, is the best way to help students "get where they're going."
What Placement Tests Does WVNCC Use?
WVNCC accepts SAT and ACT scores. For students without current SAT/ACT scores, we offer the ACCUPLACER. Advisors can answer other questions regarding accepted placement measures.

What Are the Required Scores?
Well, exactly which tests are required and what scores are needed depends upon academic and career goals.
For this and many other reasons, it's imperative every student immediately begin working with an advisor and continue the student-advisor relationship through graduation.
What Options Are Available for Review?
|1. Review & Retest||Connect with the Academic Support Center (ASC) to schedule "boot-camp" style review sessions (2 minimum) to prepare for retest.||Best for students within 10-15 points of required score.|
|2. Course w/ Supplement||Enroll in the program requirement alongside a 2-hour supplemental course.||Best for students who prefer more traditional, face-to-face, teacher-led instruction.|
